The Theme
Expo 2016 Antalya marks the first time Turkey is the host of an Expo. The event is organised under the theme “Flowers and Children”, with its motto being “A Green Life for Future Generations”. The Expo aims to offer children a unique opportunity to learn about natural resources, sustainable development and ecological options.
Held in Aksu, Antalya, on a 112-hectare site, Expo 2016 offers a unique opportunity to gain an insight in horticulture and sustainable development in innovative ways.
Expo 2016 Antalya’s subthemes are History, Biodiversity, Sustainability and Green Cities. The event is organised in order to support ecological and natural agriculture, to build knowledge of the environment and to help find alternative energy sources and solutions for environmental issues. During the six months of the Expo, various national and international conferences, seminars and panel discussions will be held around the main theme and sub-themes, addressing issues such as global warming, ecological farming, the protection of biodiversity, sustainability and food security.
The horticultural traditions of over 50 international participants are being exhibited along with 38 ‘urban best practices’, selected from throughout the world. These include smart solutions in agricultural techniques, organic farming, biotechnology, sustainability and answers to environmental problems.
